Judgment Day

The great Judgment Day is a reality. All must experience it, for Paul wrote, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (2 Cor. 5:10, NKJV).

Are you ready for the Judgment Day? God’s Word stresses the importance of the Judgment day for at least three reasons, the Judgment day is (1) final, (2) unavoidable, and (3) not feared by Christians.

Judgment Day Is Final

There are no appeals come Judgment Day. God’s ruling will be final. The book of Hebrews’ explains, “…it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment…” (Heb. 9:27). That’s it. Nothing will follow the Judgment day except eternity.

Jesus, in the great Judgment scene of Matthew 25 stated, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (v.46). Heaven and hell are our only two options. This decision is final.

Judgment Day Is Unavoidable

No person can avoid the great Judgment Day. God has lovingly offered salvation to all, but all will not accept. In fact, very few will enter the gates of heaven (Matt. 7:13-14).

Nevertheless, God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:4). God has extended His heavenly invitation to all humanity. Jesus declared, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” (Matt. 28:19). No person, group, or country is excluded providing they submit to Jesus, the “…author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” (Heb. 5:9).

This wonderful invitation has been extended to all because God intends to judge all men. The great missionary preached, “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained…” (Acts 17:30-31). But what evidence lends credence to this claim?

The empty tomb of Christ is the assurance to all of impending judgment on humanity, for Paul also said, “He has given assurance of this (judgment, MG) to all by raising Him from the dead” (Acts 17:31). I will continue to warn about the final Judgment until I die, unless someone can legitimately produce the bones of Jesus Christ. It cannot be done!

The universal standard of Judgment will be the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. He specifically warned all who would listen, “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him — the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day” (Jn. 12:48).

Judgment Day Is Not Feared By Christians

John explained that Christians need not fear the Judgment Day. In fact, he wrote, “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment…” (1 Jn. 4:17).

This boldness (confidence) characterizes Christians because they are “in Christ” by virtue of their baptism into Him (Gal. 3:27, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ”). Being “in Christ” means that Christians are in the place where God has placed salvation, for Paul referred to salvation being “in Christ” (2 Tim. 2:10).

Dear friend, do you realize that you will stand before the Judge of all the earth? Are you prepared to meet your God?
