Humanism: Enemy of Christian Homes

The task of rearing children is daunting. Threats to our children’s safety and upbringing come from all directions—drugs, premarital sex, depression, false religious teaching, peer pressure, TV programs, gangs, etc. However, I would like to steer your attention toward a threat to your children which is rarely exposed – humanism.

Humanism flows through America’s public education system (preschool through College) like blood flows through our bodies. It is a system of teaching with atheism as its foundation. (Please understand that not every teacher or principal in public education subscribes to humanism, there are some fine Christian educators in our public school system). Allow me to introduce you to a couple basic principles of humanism as contained in Humanist Manifesto I (1933). Here is what it teaches.

First, Humanist Manifesto I states, “Religious humanists regard the universe as self-existing and not created”. In the very first tenet of their doctrine, Humanists have avowed atheism as their religion! This opens the floodgates to societal chaos and anarchy because man has now become God and is no longer subject to a power higher than himself. He is now free to do as he pleases (Judges 17:6; 21:25).

The second tenet of their destructive heresy (2 Peter 2:1) reads, “Humanism believes that man is a part of nature and that he has emerged as the result of a continuous process” (i.e., evolution). The fact is, evolution has not been proven true by science. In fact, true science suggests a very young earth – only a few thousand years old at the most. True science lends credence to the Bible account of Creation and the Genesis flood (see ApologeticsPress.org).

Perhaps you are asking how this relates to your family. If you have children or grandchildren in the public school system of America, they are being exposed to humanism on a daily basis. The “father of modern education”, John Dewey, signed the original Humanist Manifesto in 1933. Many of his humanistic beliefs are the very foundation of today’s education system. As a parent, you need to learn what your children are facing in school. Obtain a copy of Humanist Manifesto I, II, and III (www.americanhumanist.org) for the purpose of learning and guarding against the doctrine of those who desire to corrupt your children. Also, watch out for such humanistic organizations as: Planned Parenthood, the American Ethical Union, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the National Organization for Women (NOW). As always, be wise, “for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”(Eph. 6:11).
